I have watched politics in my home state of Kogi state with deep but
dampening interest. When I visit my state capital every once in a while,
I get tired and sick of justifiable constant complains of unpaid
salaries and allowances. Endless strikes by teachers because the
government seems insensitive to their plights. Decaying infrastructures
in the most beautifully built state university in Nigeria, one of the
reasons is poorly ranked second best from the rear. Poor road networks
even in the state capital and a whole host of other negatives. The
Governorship election is just a little less than two months away and we
have got our power to make a choice. Without any iota of doubt, I
believe I've got a soft spot for Prince Abubakar Audu. An old man in a
village said 'We have forgiven him his shortcomings, after all we don't
need a perfect leader to get things perfectly done'. Enough of the awful
regular rhythm, we are switching away to the beautiful old past in
grand style.
